Deb Merica is the Health Promotion Coordinator for Public Health – Idaho North Central District. She is the district lead for the CDC initiative to promote healthy communities. Deb is also the program coordinator for Fit and Fall Proof™, Diabetes Prevention and Control, and Idaho Physical Activity & Nutrition. Deb has a BS in Nursing from Idaho State University and is a licensed RN.
Mel Johnson has been the Director of the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Office of Emergency Management since 1994, and has been involved in five Presidential Disaster Declarations. His interest in community resiliency is an outgrowth of planning for catastrophic events. Mel graduated from Montana State University with a BS in Botany, and the University of Southern California with a MS in Systems Management.
David Knittel is the Aging and Disability Resource Center manager for the North Central Idaho Area Agency on Aging. David has a passion for creating community events that engage people of all ages in meeting their own needs as well as the needs of the most vulnerable. He helped organize the Sustain Life Festival that taught essential life skills to over 1500 people. David graduated from Denver Baptist Bible College with a BA in Pastoral Ministries and Missions and Faith Baptist Theology Seminary with an MA in Pastoral Studies.
Tifft is an Extension Educator for the University of Idaho. Her work in poverty reduction and leadership development has led her to become more involved in food system projects as part of her community development programming. Kathee has BS and MS degrees in Family & Consumer Sciences from the University of Idaho.
