A vector is an organism or animal (such as an insect or mouse) that transmits an infectious agent capable of causing disease. For example, a mosquito is a vector for many diseases, including West Nile Virus. In the control of vectors, a primary emphasis should be on basic community environmental sanitation to eliminate the conditions that make possible their survival and reproduction. Vector Epidemiology

• Consultation and investigation of reported communicable diseases and outbreaks arising from exposure to environmental factors.
• Respond to public inquiries about vector related problems including mosquitoes, rodents, bats, ticks, flies and spiders.
