Public Health – Idaho North Central District’s Home Visitation Program is a Parents as Teachers Affiliate serving Nez Perce County and Clearwater County residents.

About Parents As Teachers

A parent is a child’s first and most important teacher. This FREE program is designed to provide parents with information and to help build their children’s intellectual, language, social, and physical development from birth to age five. Parents as Teachers helps guide parents through their child’s developmental stages and gives them tools for success.

It is our mission to provide information, support and encouragement for parents. It is our goal to:

  • Increase parent knowledge, improve parenting practices.
  • Provide early detection of delays.
  • Prevent child abuse and neglect.
  • Increase school readiness and school success.

Who Can Participate?

Nez Perce County, Clearwater County, Idaho County, Lewis County and Latah County residents who are pregnant and/or parents with children from birth to five years of age.


Program Services

Personal in-home visits: Clients will receive personal visits from certified parent educators offering timely, age-appropriate information.

Peer Support: Clients will have opportunities to make connections with other parents and provide support to each other.

Screenings: Children will receive hearing, vision, and developmental screenings.

Resource Network: Clients will be provided links to informal resources and community services.
